The Society is a community of over 100 members who have been meeting since 1986. Started by two artist friends Sheila Todd and Kath Kelly who wanted a group made up of artists of varying skill levels, like minded friends and partners who enjoy sharing their skills, ideas, encouragement and inspiration in a friendly atmosphere.

They met initially in private homes and various locations in Wentworth Falls and now in Leura. In 1988 the Society became a Co-operative Limited and in 2003 was Incorporated.

Membership covers the Blue Mountains from Lapstone to Mount Victoria, it also attracts some members from other areas.

Our aims are to promote the enjoyment of art, to increase community awareness, and to provide opportunities to expand knowledge in artistic skills.

2016 was our 30th anniversary year.  Read some of the highlights of the Society of Mountain Artists in Steps In Time.
